In Feb 2021, as a tangible contribution to the first ever UN Food Systems Summit (2021), the European Commission established a 19-member High Level Expert Group and asked the
Group to explore the needs, gaps and options to strengthen the international science policy interface for food systems transformation.
The experts’ initial findings are reflected in this short concept note with recommendations to the United Nations Food Systems Summit Scientific Group.
This paper is a starting point to assess the existing science policy interface landscape and stimulate further reflection and debate on how the governance of science and knowledge
can further support evidence-based policy and decision making in this area.
