COP15 International Science Advisors’ Statement

There is compelling evidence that global biodiversity is rapidly declining. More than one million species are now threatened with extinction, many within the next several decades, ushering in what may well be the sixth mass extinction in the earth’s history. 27 international science advisers called governments to commit to the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and to invest in actions with beneficial effects on biodiversity.
