The Clean Energy Technology Observatory: an important tool for assessing European Competitiveness

On 24 October, the European Commission published its annual progress report on competitiveness of clean energy technologies (CPR).

As a continuous contribution of in-depth evidence to the report, the Clean Energy Technology Observatory (CETO) monitors research & innovation activities on clean energy technologies and solutions. It also provides a repository of techno- and socio-economic data on clean energy technologies and their integration in the energy system. CETO targets in particular the status and outlook for innovative solutions, including  the sustainable market uptake of both mature and innovative technologies.

In a series of reports published today by the Joint Research Centre, CETO covers current and forthcoming innovative technologies.

CETO is a joint initiative between the Joint Research Centre, DG Research and Innovation and DG Energy, starting from 2022. Its continuous monitoring and assessment of innovation in clean energy technologies help keep us on track for the European Green Deal’s objectives.
