The establishment and operation of the EOSC Federation is currently at the centre of discussions within the EOSC Tripartite Governance.
A newly established Tripartite Group around the building of the EOSC Federation is supporting its setting-up and operationalisation. The group is composed of the policy subgroup of the EOSC Steering Board, the EOSC Association and the European Commission. It is tasked with preparing commonly agreed positions that support the decision-making and strategic guidance of the EOSC Tripartite Governance on issues related to building the EOSC Federation. One of its objectives is to coordinate the development of an EOSC Federation ‘handbook’. This will serve as a guide for organisations interested in becoming part of the EOSC Federation and will include its purpose, value proposition, rules for joining and governance.
The successful establishment and roll-out of the EOSC Federation will help define the necessary commitments, financial resources and forms of governance of EOSC for the future, and hence facilitate decision making on the most appropriate model for EOSC Post-2027.
