Why does the EU support research and innovation for metrology?
Metrology, the science of measurement, is an enabler across all domains of research and innovation as well as an important component in manufacturing.
It supports amongst others the monitoring of the Emissions Trading System, of smart electrical grids and pollution and meets demands for measurement techniques for emerging technologies across many fields such as biotechnologies, new materials, health diagnostics or low carbon technologies.
Horizon Europe Partnership on Metrology
The European Partnership on Metrology is an institutionalised partnership established in 2021 by a decision of the European Parliament and the Council and managed by European Association of National Metrology Institutes (EURAMET).
The Steering Group is an advisory body of the Metrology Partnership established in accordance with Metrology Decision. It gives advice to the Metrology Partnership on the emerging priorities for metrology research at European level and on how to increase the impact of its research on European industry, economy and society.
