About the topic
Large-scale use of carbon capture and utilisation technologies may mitigate climate change by removing CO2 from the atmosphere and converting it into other materials such as fuels, chemicals and plastics.
These technologies are expensive to develop and deploy so it is important to understand their climate mitigation potential before large-scale investments are made.
Recommendations from the scientific opinion included that such technologies should be eligible for funding under the Innovation Fund if able to demonstrate their climate mitigation potential.
