Are you dealing with knowledge valorisation at or for a European university or a public research organisation? Then share with us your views on socially responsible licensing in this short survey!
The survey takes only 5-10 minutes to complete. Please submit your responses by Friday 7 February 2025.
The European Commission has created this EU-wide survey to gather views and experiences on implementing societal considerations in licensing of publicly funded research results. The objective is to get an overview of Socially Responsible Licensing practices and to inform future knowledge valorisation and support actions at the EU level. For this purpose, the survey is mainly addressed to professionals working in and with universities and public research organisations (at Knowledge and Technology Transfer Offices and beyond).
Background
Socially Responsible Licensing refers to the practice of granting and managing licenses in a way that enhances societal value creation from research and innovation (R&I). This approach aims to promote the positive societal impact of scientific solutions and inventions by aligning licensing practices with ethical, social, and environmental goals.
The Guiding Principles for Knowledge Valorisation mention socially responsible licensing as an example of valorisation activities that consider the needs of and the benefits for society. Implementation of socially responsible practices is also recommended by the Code of Practice on the management of intellectual assets.
