EIP-AGRI
The European innovation partnership for agricultural productivity and sustainability (EIP-AGRI) works to foster competitive and sustainable farming and forestry that 'achieves more from less'.
Focus groups
EIP-AGRI focus groups are temporary groups of selected experts focusing on a specific subject, sharing knowledge and experience.
For instance, the focus group on precision farming is relevant in the area of digital transformation.
Workshops and seminars
The EIP-AGRI Network organises workshops and seminars to share ideas and explore synergies between research and practice.
The following events are relevant in the area of agricultural and rural digital transformation:
- data revolution: emerging new business models in agri-food;
- digital innovation hubs: main streaming digital agriculture;
- multi-level strategies for digitising agriculture and rural areas;
- enabling farmers for the digital age: the role of AKIS;
- Agri-Innovation summit: digitising rural economies.
The EIP workshop ‘Data sharing: ensuring a fair sharing of digitisation benefits in agriculture’ in 2017 addressed key issues such as trust and data ownership and lead to the development of a code of conduct on agricultural data sharing. More information on future EIP activities exploring innovative solutions for small farms and access to new technologies and skills development for the digital transition’ is available on the digital agriculture page on the EIP-Agri website.
Operational group projects
EIP Operational Groups are local innovative projects funded by the common agricultural policy that bring farmers, researchers, advisers and other stakeholders to advance innovation in the agricultural and forestry sectors.
A number of EIP-AGRI operational group projects are already developing solutions based on digital technologies to address practical problems or opportunities in the farming sector. Currently available data show that around 10% of operational group projects work on precision farming or digital transformation.
For example, Aqua C+ (Germany) develops an internet based data platform for improving water use efficiency in orchards. The project analyses concrete producer needs, and develops a mobile app and a simple, intuitive user guidance for farmers.
Research and innovation projects
Other research and innovation projects under Horizon 2020 in the area of agricultural and rural digital transformation can be found in the AgriResearch factsheet.
