In 2012, Shimrit founded ECOncrete, a company which she headed as CEO. The company develops sustainable concrete solutions for coastal and marine infrastructure, improving the structural performance of concrete while making it more hospitable to marine life. In 2019, she was one of four women awarded the EU Prize for Women Innovators.
