The European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE) has prepared a General Activity Report for the 2017-2021 mandate. The Report describes the main activities of the Group during 2017-2021 mandate, the context of increasing demand for far-sighted ethical advice, the variety of domains and stakeholders engaged in the development of these ethical frameworks, as well as a set of forward looking perspectives.
During its 2017-2021 mandate, three extended Opinions were adopted:
- Future of work, future of society
- Ethics of genome editing
- Improving pandemic preparedness and management (co-authored)
In parallel, four significant Statements were produced:
- Statement on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and ‘Autonomous’ Systems
- European solidarity and the protection of fundamental rights in the COVID-19 pandemic
- Scientific advice to European policy makers during the COVID-19 pandemic (co-authored)
- The role of values and ethics in European and global governance
