On 23 February 2023, the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission (RTD) and the National Science and Technology Council, NSTC (Taiwan), co-organised a technical Horizon Europe Info Session. It provided information on the opportunities for international cooperation available in the latest Horizon Europe Work Programme 2023-24, which was adopted on the 06 December 2022. The seminar was organised in a hybrid format and was virtually co-hosted by RTD and by the NSTC, on-site in Taipei.
The event provided participants with an opportunity to learn on the programme’s objectives, structure, and modalities for the participation of international partners. Practical tips and successful stories were shared.
Horizon Europe is mostly open to the world, with a modulated approach to international cooperation based on a reciprocal and level playing field, in line with the global approach to research and innovation Communication.
Taiwan’s researchers and entities will be eligible to apply to most of the topics included in the Work Programme 2023-24 as an Associated Partners, meaning that they will be actively involved in the consortium but will need to bring their own funding.
Financial support to the participation of Taiwan’s research and innovation stakeholders under Horizon Europe will be provided by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) through a co-funding mechanism.
All questions related to eligibility conditions, funding and specific topics in Horizon Europe could be addressed to local contact points through the Funding and Tenders portal.
Follow-up activities at the technical level will be organised to foster networking among European and Taiwan’s research and innovation communities in view of future collaborations under Horizon Europe.
