The European Research Area to achieve critical mass in Research and Innovation

On its way through Europe, the “ERA Tour des Capitales” stopped in Vienna on 26 February. Vienna was the second stop after Rome on 16 December 2019.

“The European Research Area will enable us to come together, pool our knowledge and maximise the impact of European research and innovation” said Director-General Jean-Eric Paquet. He was invited by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research together with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency to discuss with policy makers and stakeholders the further development of ERA as well as future priorities and measures. The participants agreed that the socio-economic and ecological challenges can only be tackled by working closely together.

The input from this event and from the following ones will feed into the preparation of the new communication on ERA which is foreseen to be adopted in June 2020.
