EU-SOLARIS is the 25th ERIC in the ERIC landscape

On 19 October 2022, the European Commission granted the legal status of European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) to the European Solar Research Infrastructure for Concentrated Solar Power (EU-SOLARIS) making EU-SOLARIS ERIC be the 25th ERIC established since 2011. EU-SOLARIS was acknowledged as an ESFRI Landmark in 2021 and is part of the Energy domain.

The vision of EU-SOLARIS ERIC is to become the European reference Research Infrastructure in the technological development of Concentrating Solar Power/Solar Thermal Energy (CSP/STE) and related applications. EU-SOLARIS ERIC mission is to offer the most favourable conditions for the development of CSP/STE technologies and the deployment of advanced pilot projects for the scientific and industrial communities.

EU-SOLARIS ERIC strongly contributes to the new European Research Area (ERA) objectives. It will link scientific communities and industry and speed up the development of research and innovation, due to a closer collaboration model, knowledge exchange management and a wider dissemination of results.

EU-SOLARIS ERIC will be a distributed pan-European Research Infrastructure with a statutory seat situated in Almería (Spain), where the central hub will be responsible for the coordinated operation of national research centres in CSP/STE technologies and will coordinate the main existing R&D installations in Europe. The other founding Members are France, Cyprus, Germany; Portugal is a founding Observer.
