The 4th EU–Israel Joint Committee Meeting, hosted by the Commission, served as a platform to discuss the association of Israel to Horizon Europe.

The meeting focused on working together in collaborative research under Pillar II of Horizon Europe as well as taking stock of good cooperation under European Innovation Council, European Research Council, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and European Institute of Technology.

The participants reviewed past achievements, assessed ongoing cooperation, and explored new avenues. The meeting also highlighted how this collaboration aligns with broader regional initiatives such as in the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean, the Partnership on research and innovation (R&I) in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) and Science Diplomacy.

A shared goal is to foster sustainable growth, drive transformative innovation, and address pressing global issues through R&I cooperation. This meeting took place as part of the Horizon Europe Association Agreement which was signed already in 2021.

In Horizon 2020, Israel participated in 1694 projects with 2105 individual participations, securing a total of €1.3 billion. In Horizon Europe to date, Israel has 909 participations in 747 grants securing €831 million.
