The EU-ASEAN Innovation Event on 2 October shared best practice on the innovation ecosystem in both regions with presentations on the New European Innovation Agenda and the ASEAN Startup initiative. Concrete examples illustrated the merits of engaging at regional level, allowing for more market access opportunities.
The highlight of the event was the pitching of 10 startups from Europe and 10 from ASEAN showcasing high tech technological solutions on circular economy and clean tech. On 3 October, the scope and modalities of cooperation on research to address climate change and local resilience were presented. Call topics include complex matters such as wastewater management, farming, and remediation to contaminated soils treatment and renewable energy-supported biomass, which require collective expertise to bring innovative solutions to critical societal challenges.
Several scientists from the ASEAN member states already presented their research ideas and were looking for partners from Europe to submit solid proposals to the 9th joint co-funding call organised under the Joint Funding Scheme, a project supported by the European Commission under the Global Service Facility.
