The first edition of the Waterborne Days will take place in Brussels, in Hotel Sofitel, on 26-27 September. The event is co-organised by the Waterborne TP and the European Commission in the framework of the Zero Emission Waterborne Transport partnership and the Lasting project funded under Horizon 2020. It will focus on R&I in the waterborne sector, addressing the challenges of the sector in achieving the green transition, with dedicated sessions on the upcoming regulatory framework, the update of the partnership’s SRIA and other issues such as competitiveness of the sector or access to finance. During the event, the Waterborne Awards ceremony will take place, where four projects will be awarded due to their performance on innovation, sustainability and market uptake.

Περιγραφή
The programme includes presentations and panel discussions with representatives from the European Commission and industry stakeholders. The Directorate-General of Research and Innovation, along with other Commission services like Directorate General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), Directorate General for Climate (DG CLIMA) or the European Climate Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) will showcase the link between the European Union’s green shipping policies and innovation, with sessions on policy, funding, financing or internationalisation.
Sessions dedicated to the main ship types (cruise, inland waterway transport, long distance, offshore, short sea shipping and ferries) will address R&I and policy state of play relevant for each. Workshops on each of the areas (ports, electrification, sustainable alternative fuels, energy efficiency, design and retrofit and digital green) of the Zero Emission Waterborne Transport partnership’s SRIA will give the floor to participants, encouraging their active involvement in the current discussions on the update of the SRIA.
During the two days conference the audience will have the chance to listen and participate on the discussions shaping research & innovation in the waterborne transport sector to demonstrate results enabling zero-emission solutions for all main ship types and services before 2050.
