Climate change is a global existential challenge that has introduced unprecedented pressures on the planet which are already translating into significant consequences for human health.
Research and innovation (R&I) are key in delivering evidence and tools to understand, prevent and reduce the health impacts of these rapidly unfolding threats. However, there are numerous knowledge gaps that need to be filled and innovation opportunities that remain untapped.
There is also growing momentum and interest at the global level to increase coordination towards a forward-looking research agenda in climate change and health that will be capable of delivering robust evidence for the necessary adaptation and mitigation actions and policies.

Description
The high-level conference “Research Perspectives on the Health Impacts of Climate Change” will bring together climate change and health researchers, funders and policymakers to reflect on the current challenges, priorities and needs for research and researchers in this area. Additionally, the conference will support the launch of a strategic research and innovation agenda (SRIA) identifying the priority topics for the years to come on climate change and health research.
The conference will feature sessions categorised under several themes:
Theme 1: Short and long-term impacts of climate change
Theme 2: Climate change in the context of other environmental stressors
Theme 3: Climate change and the health sector
Theme 4: A global research agenda on climate change and health
Ultimately, this event will aim at enhancing and making visible the role of health as a driver of global climate action, which until now has not played a significant part in the discussions.
Exhibition space
There will be an exhibition space on the conference premises which participants will be able to visit throughout the event. This space will be made available adjacent to the area designated for coffee and lunch breaks.
The aim of the exhibition space will be to highlight important research projects and initiatives working at the interface of climate change and health, giving them a dedicated space in which to share their work and its impact with stakeholders attending the conference. It will also be an excellent opportunity to shine a spotlight on researchers from R&I projects working on climate change and human health by means of posters.
The call for poster’s submission is now closed and a total of 51 posters were selected.
You can download the book of abstracts with all the information of the selected posters.
