HERItage Virtual Conference

“The Role of Cultural Heritage in Socio-Economic Development and Preservation of Democratic Values – HERItage”

Within the Croatian presidency over the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2020, the University of Rijeka should have had the honour of hosting and organizing a conference entitled “The Role of Cultural Heritage in Socio-Economic Development and Preservation of Democratic Values – HERItage”.

The conference, which was supposed to take place on March 11-13, 2020 in collaboration with the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education, is financed through Horizon 2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the conference had to be cancelled and now we transform it into a virtual meeting with a radically reduced program but with more participants.

We have turned the original three-day conference with more than 300 speakers into four video conferences (at the Zoom platform) within the period from June 15 to June 18, 2020.

The virtual conferences will bring together not only prominent researchers but also European Commission representatives, policy-makers, regional stakeholders, local authorities, artists, and the various actors involved in ECOC activities, as well as interested citizens.
