Co-creating structures and governance for missions at EU, country and regional levels
The Missions being developed by the EU, rooted in research and innovation and reaching across the range of EU policies, will need to attract other forms of support, notably from EU Member States and beyond, as well as regions and cities.
Therefore, the objective of this one-day online workshop was to develop ideas and concrete proposals for implementation structures and governance that will connect and promote synergies between actions and programmes at EU, national and regional levels for the purpose of European missions. At the same time, the workshop aimed to inspire and to show national actors why they should invest in mission-oriented approaches and possible avenues for how this can be achieved.

Report
The workshop focused on providing responses to two questions:
- What and how could countries and regions contribute to the EU missions?
- What new forms of implementation structures and governance are needed, such as national hubs?
The workshop was organised by the European Commission in a full co-creation format, focusing on the national and EU levels primarily. A follow-on meeting targeted at the regional level may be developed.
Participants included national, regional and intra-regional policy makers and programme managers, Member State or Associated Country representatives and members of the Mission Boards.
