Citizen engagement is an important feature of the Horizon Europe Cancer Mission, aiming to build trustful dialogues with citizens on the EU’s activities and policies against cancer. In 2023, the Cancer Mission launched a new dialogue with young cancer survivors, to better understand their specific needs and challenges in order to co-create initiatives to help addressing them.

Description
On 27 September 2023 the Cancer Mission will host a hybrid session at the European Health Forum Gastein to exchange with experts as well as young cancer survivors on the topic of mental health throughout cancer survivorship. This work also supports the implementation of the comprehensive approach to mental health, adopted by the European Commission on 7 June 2023.
The session will bring together four experts in the area of psychology, psycho-oncology, and medical science, who will present their work on mental health and cancer. They will present concrete approaches to cope with mental health issues throughout the cancer continuum, also looking at how mental health influences cancer progression and survival. The session will also feature a young cancer survivor who will share personal experience regarding survivorship and mental health.
Register for free online participation or join us in Gastein, and explore the different approaches to improve the mental health and quality of life of young cancer survivors.
