On 29 September, the Commission launched five EU Missions, including the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission with the following objectives:
- to achieve 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030 and
- to ensure that these cities act as experimentation and innovation hubs to put all European cities in a position to become climate-neutral by 2050.
To mark the occasion, cities are invited to a webinar on Friday 1 October, 10:00-12:00 CET, on how the Mission will work and how they can become part of it.
Speakers include Matthew Baldwin (Mission Manager, Deputy Director General, DG MOVE), Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz (Chair of the Mission Board), Thomas Osdoba (coordinator of the NetZeroCities project setting up the Mission Platform) and Dirk Beckers (Director of CINEA).
A Frequently Asked Questions document is also available, which contains answers to the questions asked by participants.
